Summary of Session 1 – Shifa Fathima
So a month ago I came across this google form which was sent by our principal , to register for a program and this very program mandated us to have 80% attendance which I cant even maintain in med school… but still
Quite unsure if I will get 100% attendance but as always I will welcome all the opportunities i get and I decided to …. Register I said Ill Try , I really aspire to inspire before I expire , Not so soon after I was added to a group with a bunch of people just like me and we were going to have our introductory session on 1st august.
Got my friends, hurried, reached the place right after class and we were in our uniforms (when everyone was dressed up but me in the same attire I wore at 8am), gave a tap on my back and said “I believe we definitely did showcase punctuality” entered the place we were served snacks and then we settled in the hall for the opening.
This started with Rtn. Maruti inaugurating the 15th edition of as I evolve followed by a speech and this is when I understood that I signed up for the best thing , luckily , and its actual value. I did know its a big thing when it was a rotary initiative but he made us understand the actual depth of it and how cool it is to be there among I believe among 250 people from different places of Coimbatore.
Rtn Dr Balavenkat senior consultant of Ganga hospital came to the podium, I was ashtonished it takes a lot for a senior consultant to allocate time for such events only for the development of few youngsters and that is really sweet and a feeling of inspiration because he is a doctor too. He gave emphasis on the event and also gave some med school content, eg: when a senior says just study in the last month and you will pass and how juniors would follow that and why a leader would’nt, Dr delivered amazing info in a humerus manner.
After this came Rtn Pradeep Yuvaraj the icebreaker, He decided to get us out of our places and the room lit up, extremely jovial, confident and explained the art of storytelling we were given a sheet asked to do a small exercise in which we divide shapes into other shapes, yet I was able to even divide the square into 7 but not the one shape which eventually I got to know the answer was on our paper itself and we tend to complicate stuffs (being able to divide rhe square and not the other I felt maybe im taking everything to lightly) and its time to get serious whereas some people realized they complicate but this definitely made everyone think just 1 activity and sir made us all think.
In simple and amazing way Rtn Pradeep sir explained how stories make a difference with the example of Mr mohan from Palakkad who was supposedly his friend and the theory of relativity, Even how emotion is important by wording about cervical cancer in different ways Again sir did not just explain the art of story telling but raised awareness on something of national concern and being the most preventable cancer by using a this platform.
By the end of the session I felt honored to be a part or it this may not be a formal summary, with the retrograde amnesia Dr Balavenkat mentioned I still remember a wise man talking about the man who stands up on a table confidently and talking gets more attention maybe my summary is like that man, I wish to become a leader confident and I am trying to master the art of story telling (Did I?)
