Summary of Session 1 – Santosh Sampath

The session started with a song by Bharathiar which conveyed the message that all we need is a spark which is capable of bringing about a big change and having an impact on the society, then the speech by Dr. Balavenkat – which was actually very inspiring where he mentioned how lucky and grateful we must be to be born without any disabilities , and that we must make use of this life to bring about a change , to uplift the life of others. We must take responsibility and leadership and lead the way , we must always have a goal and wake up each day with the intent to achieve this goal. And then the speech by Rtn.Maruti where he gave a walk through of his life journey and the difficulties and failures he faced and how he managed to be where he is right now and the importance of being a leader and taking the leadership. The one thing he emphasised upon the most was about the mentorship in this programme which will the benefit the students in a great way.

Then the eye opening session by Rtn. Pradeep Yuvaraj which was very different from the rest and unique, where he gained the attention of the audience and did something which was very unexpected, and that he started by saying the qualities of a leader which was – being noticed, inspiring ,caring. And the one which was amazing was the one where he said change your thought from “what can happen to what all can happen” and that give a shot at everything and not to look at just one possibility and be afraid of it and instead be open to all the opportunities and give it a shot. And the activity to divide the shapes into equal halves was awesome through which it was well understood not to look at everything in a complex way and things might be way simpler then what we actually think. And then about the importance of story telling through two instances one of which was about a theory and other of his friend , which showed how well people were able to remember and relate to the story than the factual content which had no emotion and connection, which conveyed the importance of story telling and its significance. And that a story has the capacity to convert abstract ideas into concrete ones and how a story must simple in terms of the word used and need not always be with complex words, it must something different and unexpected and have an emotional connect with the audience, must have good credibility and said how all the components lead to SUCCES – simple, unexpected, concrete, credible, emotional, story.

Overall it was an amazing session which was very informative and a fun filled. And the one thing which was emphasised by all the speakers was the uniqueness of this programme and how all the students can be benefited and become great leaders and successful in their life.
